Well, day one is complete and you're probably cursing my name and asking yourself, what the hell did I sign up for? 9-15-21 Thrusters and Burpees on the first day? Did he really just do that? Yup, i did it. AND IT WAS AWESOME! Listen, I understand how hard that benchmark workout can be and what it does to you both physically and especially mentally. Not only from the countless times I have done this WOD in the past, but even also by staying at the gym late tonight and doing it once again. Well guess what.... It crushed me once again.... With my heart rate at a bazillion and laid out on my back trying to catch my breath. I was really able to take some time and enjoy every moment of the day and classes I got to teach.
I got to encounter and meet a ton of new people. I watched encouragement from complete strangers cheering each other on as they raced to beat the clock. Veteran (OG) Members helping new Challengers. Friends pushing friends. Individuals pushing themselves beyond their comfort zone because they truly want to make a change in their lives. Bottom Line, This is why I love coaching.
Workouts like this teach us something about ourselves. Today was a test to see how far your body and mind are willing to push beyond its comfort zone. To see how far you are able and willing to push yourself in order to make positive change in your life, and to get up and do it again the next day. I saw some people push themselves harder than they have ever maybe pushed themselves in their entire life. Now, I understand it was just a 10 minute workout and that is not what is going to define you, but that ten minutes can really suck. It has the ability to put a large part of your life and health into perspective. This is why I start the challenge with such a difficult workout. It's the fastest way for me and the other coaches to get to know you and see how much you want challenge yourself to make that change.
As Coaches we don't just learn about you by talking with you. We learn about you by watching you move and how you interact with others. By seeing how you listen and take direction. By watching how far you are willing to step out of your comfort zone to make yourself a better person.
It's important for all of you to know you are not alone in this 8 week journey. New Challengers, Members, Rehab United staff, and the Coaches are all in this with you. And we will all be supportive and sore together!
As majority of all of you will probably get this tomorrow. Please know I understand exactly how your body feels right now as you are reading this. The last thing some of you will want to do is work out again. Well, working out again is exactly what you should do. Get out there and teach your body it is capable of more than you are allowing it to be. Our coaches will , encourage you, guide you, and Scale the workouts for you as needed so you can really give this 8 weeks all you got!
One day down, a lifetime to go.
